Additional Remarks
- The SIAI-Marchetti S.205 is an Italian light aircraft designed to seat four people and powered by a single engine. Manufactured by SIAI-Marchetti, this particular model comes with the added option of a fifth seat. The S.205 first took to the skies in 1965, and a variant known as the S.208 is still in use by the Italian Air Force.
- The S.205 was conceived by SIAI-Marchetti’s chief designer, Alexander Brena, in 1964. His goal was to create a versatile, lightweight aircraft. The result was an all-metal, low-wing, single-engine plane capable of carrying four to five passengers.
- Around 65 fuselages were shipped to Syracuse, New York, for assembly by the Waco Aircraft Company. However, production was halted after the passing of the company’s president, Mr. Berger.
- The basic version of the S.205 is a metal, single-engine aircraft with four seats. The “F” variant features a fixed undercarriage, while the “R” variant, like the G-VELA, is equipped with a retractable undercarriage.
